El Ten Eleven at Off Broadway

December 1, 2008

On Wednesday night, a great band called El Ten Eleven is playing at Off Broadway with local band Macro Meltdown. El Ten Eleven consists of two guys that play instrumental post rock in way that is far more upbeat than they label usually implies, at times sounding more like Pinback or Minus the Bear than Explosions in the Sky or Mogwai.

Gentleman Auction House at The Bluebird on Saturday

November 21, 2008

nov22party

As you may have read, my real birthday was last month. However, I like to stretch those sorts of things out as long as possible. So, occasional DBZ contributor AJS, his sister, and I are hosting a little birthday party at The Bluebird tomorrow, featuring Dividing By Zero favorites Gentleman Auction House and two other great bands: The Thang (from New York City) and The Frontier Brothers (from Austin, TX).

So head on out, enjoy some music and buy me a drink.

Mystery Mix Monday

July 28, 2008

As you may have noticed, I did not post at all last week, much less post a Mystery Mix. Sorry about that. My summer’s getting a little crazy. Work’s crazy, I’ve been traveling and planning a wedding. So, in light of the fact that I will be out of town the next few weekends (this one in Vegas for the old Bachelor Party…), planning a wedding, having a wedding and going on a honeymoon, I will be taking a bit of a late summer break/hiatus. I will actually be doing things, so this isn’t (entirely) me just burning out on this thing. August and September will be a little light, but I will come back in force in October. Keep checking back, as I will be catchign up on some thngs I have been putting off. I will check in with the occasion show suggestion or review and I will be posting some old Mystery Mixes for good measure.
