Toadies at The Pageant on July 30th

June 6, 2008

Oh wow, this is totally taking me back to high school in Dallas in the mid-90’s: Toadies are touring this summer (sans-Lisa, though) and will be hitting The Pageant on July 30th. I was all into Dallas bands in the years of 1994-1998, including Toadies, Reverend Horton Heat, Old 97s, Hagfish, Baboon, Brutal Juice, Slobberbone, Funland (featuring Will Johnson in his pre-Centro-matic days), Tripping Daisy (Tim DeLaughter in his pre-Polyphonic Spree Days and UFOFU (the Curtis brothers in their pre-Secret Machines days).

I always had a great time at Toadies’ shows and their debut full-length, Rubberneck, is still one of my favorite albums from that decade. They broke up in 2001 or so; by then I was living in St. Louis and I remember heading down to the Galaxy where they were supposed to be playing one night, only to find out that the show was cancelled. It was cancelled because they had split up.

Anyway, this one should be fun.
