Okkervil River and The New Pornographers at The Pageant Tomorrow Night
April 18, 2008So, I’ve been totally rocking out to both Okkervil River and The New Pronographers all week in anticipation of this Saturday’s show at The Pageant. So, to get everyone else in the mood, I made this Muxtape of both bands.
Okkervil River/New Pornographers Muxtape
Okkervil River - “Our Life Is Not a Movie or Maybe”
Okkervil River - “For Real”
The New Pornographers - “Sing Me Spanish Techno”
The New Pornographers - “The Laws have Changed”
The New Pornographers - “My Slow Descent Into Alcoholism”

So we had an Earthquake last night…
April 18, 2008I woke up and started yelling at our cat to stop whatever it was he was doing because I thought that’s
what the noise I heard was, and then thought “this is an earthquake!” Our bed shook for a good 15 seconds (rim shot!) and the TV on the chest and the windows were rattling. It definitely occurred to me while it was happening that is was an earthquake.
Crazy. It wasn’t even part of the New Madrid fault.

Rancid at Pop’s on June 28th
April 3, 2008
Thanks to AJS for pointing out that Rancid is playing at Pop’s Nightclub in beautiful Sauget, Illinois, on June 28th. Tickets are onsale Saturday morning at 10am.
The band played two sold-out shows at Missisippi Nights two years ago, and I was fortunately enough to be at one. It was a great show and I fully intend on being at this one. Exene Cervenka & The Original Sinners (aka 3/4 of 7 Shot Screamers plus 1) are opening up.
Here is a video I took of that show:
